The Best Nine Posts
In this blogpost, I show you the best nine images in my Instagram feed in 2020. One set by your likes, and one set by my own choice. Let’s see whether there is some overlap, shall we?

Top Nine Instagram Posts 2020 by Your Likes
There you go, these are the 9 posts which got the most likes in 2020. There are some in there which I like a lot. But then there is one or the other surprise 😮
First off: You guys like drone images more than anything else 😎. 7 out of 9 images were taken with a drone! I completely understand this, I love the new perspectives a drone can offer.
Then the biggest surprise to me: the highest rated image is the one in the top left 🤯. It’s one of my first tries on colour grading, and looking back at it now it feels like completely out of control. I literally dropped a bucket of paint right onto it.
So, why did it do so well? To be honest, I’m not sure. Is there something to it that I just cannot see? Or did Instagram play a joke on me by serving this one to more people? Let me know down below in the comments what you think about it.
All this aside, the second highest rated image makes up for it since it is right down my alley. An image of the comet Neowise above Basel. It’s an photograph you can hardly get again since the comet will only return in a couple of thousand years.
Best Nine Instagram Posts in 2020 by my Choice
And here are the 9 images I’m most proud of for 2020! No doubt you will notice there is not too much overlap with the top 9 above 🤔. Afterall, only two images are present in both sets.
Why would this be the case? Poor taste on my part? While I of course cannot exclude the latter, I tend to blame the Instagram algorithm which – for some obscure reasons – served some images to a lot more people while almost ignoring others. To be fair: A lot of them are among my first images posted when I had hardly any followers.
The bottom left image is an abstract architectural shot I submitted for a photography competition where it was picked to be presented among the top 50 🎉.
The top right image is a snapshot from a vacation in Greece, and there is something about it which still touches my heart. While this city was crowded with tourists, everybody in this scene seems strangely alone.
