Hey, great to see you! I’m glad you want to get to know the person behind twjst.photo
So here I am: My name is Theodor Stoll and I live in a town called Binningen, just next to Basel in Switzerland. Currently almost all my spare time is filled with photography and everything surrounding it. I got my first camera from my grandma when I was in my teens. I tried to shoot on film, but did not find it easy and it was time consuming (and having not too much money for film and development certainly did not help). It was hard to get a connection between what I did in the field and the images I saw a week later. My interest sparked again with digital photography in the early 2000’s: immediate results and the possibility to try as many times as I wanted. Awesome! In 2016 it fully got me after a trip to the Lofoten – photography or no photography: if you get the chance this is a place you should see for yourself. Since then I constantly keep taking pictures, training my eyes and my craft. I’m amazed how many talented photographers are out there and I’m glad many share their art, their knowledge and their tips. This homepage is my way of sharing, getting in contact and give something back. ❤
When I’m not photographing, I’m most likely found at work. I am a scientist, working in pharma research as a medicinal chemist. The goal there is to find new medicines, something which I find meaningful, filled with purpose and rewarding. This work is tough in a sense that most things we try do not work, the projects take a long time (years!) and the odds of finding new medicine are rather small. But absolutely worth pursuing.
